Wendy Martinez Marroquin

Business Consultant & Instructor

Wendy Martinez Marroquin is a Business Consultant & Instructor based in Oakland. Wendy is an educator, film producer, and entrepreneur. Her superpower is love – she will always choose love even when it does not make sense. In her class you will experience love in action, which means your presence will be celebrated, your dreams and needs will be taken seriously, and your healing will be centered.

Wendy’s work is fueled by a core belief that the world will not know true healing until you feel free and have the support to dream as you wish, and the systemic barriers that get in the way are abolished. She is Co-Founder & Development and Strategy Director of AllThrive Education, an organization that develops community-driven, healing-centered approaches to addressing systemic barriers that lead to burnout among community-based organizations. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, she spent 15 years in the nonprofit sector serving Black, brown, and immigrant young adults and families in various roles as an adoption specialist, program manager and director, yoga therapist, mentor, videographer, and director of marketing.

Wendy came to Uptima with a dream to solve a problem deeply personal to her. She had experienced burnout multiple times and knew something different had to be done, but didn’t know how to turn that into a business. Her mentors at Uptima saw potential in her and her business idea when she couldn’t see it herself. Uptima helped her believe in and value herself. Now, as an instructor, she is committed to doing the same for fellow entrepreneurs. When asked for her advice to entrepreneurs, Wendy says to seek role models who are visionaries and have demonstrated with concrete actions their allegiance to their values.

Wendy holds a B.A. in Peace and Conflict Studies from UC Berkeley and is a certified yoga therapist and restorative justice practitioner.
