We had to look at how much money our businesses needed to grow. And, I just could not fix my mouth to even utter the amount. Through this course, I’ve had the chance to explore my relationship with money. Because of that, I was able to say, “Yeah, I can raise that much money.”

I gained clarity and direction specifically in preparation for the BAOBOB crowdfunding campaign. Working with Uptima helped me tame the storm of options and ideas so that I could put one foot in front of the other and lay out a step-by-step plan.

Crowdfunding was scary to me. I was afraid to put myself out there, ask for money, and take the risk. With the support of the course and an amazing mentor I was able to get through it. Facing those fears is the best thing I could’ve done for my business. With what I learned in this course, I was able to create a successful Kickstarter and raise over $18,000 for the launch of my product Ebb Filter.

What I Didn’t Know Before I Started

We learned that the business plan is a good way to guide growth and development, outline how you provide products and services, and ensure you are being strategic and intentional versus ad hoc. This course relieved our fears of the unknown by providing structure to guide us through creating a real business plan.

What I Learned to Help Me Build a Business

Uptima helped me to define Common Compost’s mission, services, and products. It gave me the necessary tools to build a strong business model, clarify my finances, establish production and distribution channels, and reach my target audiences. I highly recommend enrolling in this program.

We’ve been in business for a while without a business plan. As a small business owner, creating a business plan is intimidating, especially when you’re in it day to day. But through this course, I’ve been able to break it down into manageable chunks and start to implement it with guidance and peer support.

Not having the knowledge of how to go about creating a business left me vulnerable as I placed my confidence in others to “help” me with MY business. After the Launching a Business class, I was further along in my business in 3 months than the entire year I had spent in the dark. Uptima gives you the tools to launch your business. The most important lesson that I’ve learned is that if I don’t know my business, no one else will.
