Mike Gabriel

Mike Gabriel is a Business Consultant based in Oakland who helps mission-driven
businesses build the financial strength to grow. A collaborator, advisor, and strategist,
his superpower is bringing people together and building partnerships across
organizations, so the whole becomes greater than the sum of its parts.

Mike is driven by the satisfaction of playing a part in business owners’ success and

With more than 15 years of experience as both an investor and an operator, Mike
bridges the gap between capital providers and the businesses they support, and he has
helped facilitate over $300 million in financing to mission-driven businesses and
organizations. Prior to joining Uptima, he was VP of Impact Investing Services at Locus,
Director of Finance and Operations at Circulate Capital, and Finance Director at The
Justice Collective. Earlier roles include social enterprise lending at RSF Social Finance,
virtual CFO work with SoProCFO, and microfinance support across Southeast Asia with
the Grameen Foundation. Mike is also a familiar face at Uptima, having served as Lead
Instructor and Mentor for its entrepreneurship education programs from 2018 to 2020.

Mike holds a B.A. in Latin American and Iberian Studies from Vanderbilt University and
an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management.
